Teacher left heartbroken after dad kills her cousin’s baby in revenge attack

A MUM-of-two was left fighting for her life after her evil ex attacked her with a machete and butchered their baby son to death after she left him.

His mum Racquel Walters, 39, now only has photos left of her eight-month-old son, after he was hacked to death by his dad when she walked out on him.

Baby Roshawn was brutally murdered with a machete

Racquel’s cousin, Donna Webster, a teaching assistant in Balham, London, said: “It’s horrendous. Racquel is broken, whenever I speak to her she’s in tears at losing her baby boy. He was a delightful, happy little baby.

“I’d seen him over Facetime whenever I called my cousin, but I’d yet to meet him. I was hoping to fly to Jamaica this winter to visit them both. I can’t believe I’ll never get to hold him. I’m a mother myself and I don’t know how I’d cope if I lost one of my babies in such a horrific way.”

Donna, a mum to three young boys, was having lunch with her colleagues in May when she received a call from her mum Carmen, who currently lives in Jamaica with Racquel and the rest of Donna’s family.

Screaming down the phone in tears, Carmen chillingly told Donna that Racquel was in hospital following the horrific attack, before whispering that the baby was dead.

Donna says: “I could hardly understand her when she [Carmen] rang. She was crying hysterically repeatedly saying ‘the baby is dead, the baby is dead’, but I didn’t know what she meant.

“When I realised she was talking about Roshawn my heart stopped. I was in a complete state of shock.”

Racquel Walters, a primary school teacher, was at her home in Jamaica when Shawn McPherson, 32, a taxi driver and farmer, allegedly lashed out at her and their son, Roshawn, after a blazing row.

Donna said the couple had recently split after a year of dating, causing McPherson to grab a machete and start hacking at Racquel and eight-month-old Roshawn.

No one should have to bury their eight month old baby

Both mother and baby were left in a critical condition in the street and rushed to hospital, where Racquel underwent emergency surgery. Heartbreakingly, Roshawn succumbed to his injuries.

After having major surgery on her head and arms, Racquel has left hospital to take care of her other child, her five-year-old daughter Mercy.

Reports from the local Mandeville police suggest that McPherson fled the scene of the crime and jumped into a sinkhole, but police and firefighters were unable to find him.

It is now believed that McPherson is at large and are asking the community to help find him.

According to the United Nations, Jamaica has had one of the highest murder rates in the world for many years, with some areas such as Montego Bay currently in a state of emergency following spikes in shootings and stabbings.

Roshawn was tragically attacked on May 30 at McKinley Road

Donna plans to fly to Jamaica for Roshawn’s funeral next week, which will take place on the 13th July, but the family are desperate for McPherson to be caught.

She adds: “No one should have to bury their eight month old baby. What McPherson did is pure evil, how could anyone do that to a baby? As a family we need to grieve, but we also want justice and he needs to pay for what he’s done.”

Donna and the rest of her family are currently fundraising for money to go towards Roshawn’s funeral next Saturday. To contribute, visit their GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/8-month-old-roshane-mcpherson

This mum was paralysed when her baby was seven months old – so they learnt to walk together.
