NABY KEITA is out of Guinea’s AFCON campaign with a thigh injury.
The Liverpool ace confirmed the news on social media ahead of his side’s last-16 clash against Algeria.
He said: “I could not return to Egypt to continue at the Cup. On this I ask you to forgive me.
“I will return to my professional club and hope to serve my nation better very soon. Good luck to the team for tonight.”
Keita announced the news after returning to Liverpool for specialist treatment on his thigh at the start of the month.
The midfielder first suffered the injury during the away clash at Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Keita missed the remainder of the campaign as Liverpool beat Spurs in the final while finishing second in the Premier League.
However, the 24-year-old was still included in Guinea’s African Cup of Nations squad.
