Chelsea starlet Fikayo Tomori wanted by Burnley in £15m transfer as possible James Tarkowski replacement

CHELSEA youngster Fikayo Tomori is being chased by Burnley in a £15million move as a possible replacement for in-demand James Tarkowski.

Sean Dyche is braced for a hoard of offers for his centre-back, but will demand £40m for the England international.

Leicester are just one club in the hunt, with Brendan Rodgers fearful he will finally lose Manchester United target Harry Maguire.

Should Tarkowski leave, the Clarets chief is eyeing up a move for Blues youngster Tomori, 21, who spent last season on loan at Derby under Frank Lampard.

The Daily Star claim Dyche is keen on the Canada-born England Under-21s star – but knows it may not be easy to pry him away from Chelsea now Lampard is in charge.

Tomori played 47 times for Derby last season, having also enjoyed loan spells at Brighton and Hull between 2017 and 2018.

In the Blues legend’s first interview as manager, he name-dropped both Tomori and another youngster shipped on loan to the Rams in 2018-19, Mason Mount.

FRANK DISCUSSION

Speaking of their stellar attitude, Lampard said: “I’m excited because playing here for so many years.

“Seeing work put into academy seeing the work from top, investment into academy, the want and desire to see it succeed, on the ground the coaching staff trying to bring players into first-team and then the players themselves.

“I was fortunate enough to work with Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori last year, their attitudes stood out well.

“The fact they came through the academy here – you could see it in how they held themselves, how they train, their manners off the pitch so that’s what I want to see.

“I want to work with those players, I want to dangle the carrot.

“Can you work hard, can you compete, can you get in the team? I was that young player a very long time ago.

“The one thing you want is the feeling that you can get into the first team, the feeling that the road that divides the academy to main building, is a road you can cross.

“I think it comes from the top.”
